Doctors and Dentists

tummy time (1)Kinsley had her two month check up on Friday and passed with flying colors. The doctor got to see her when she was really active and thought she looked really great. He was impressed with how strong she was and told us she was ready to flip over at any time! She weighed in at a whopping 9 1/2 pounds and 22 inches long! (I couldn’t help but check, and Myla was those measurements at her six month – three months adjusted - check-up. Which means Kinsley has a month lead, but they are pretty close!)

Myla had her first check in with the dentist today and got rave reviews. Johnny said she sat really still for the x-rays but once they went to put the chair down, she was having nothing of it. (She does that in the bath with us too, hates to lay down for some reason.) He said that with premature babies, the teeth get soft spots where the enamel didn’t harden and she has a few, but not too many. All in all, he thought her smile looked fantastic.

We are gearing up for our fourth March for Babies this weekend. Myla loves to “walk for babies” and she has been asking me, “but where ARE the babies mommy-zebra?” Last year, I was all emotional when we were there because it touches me so deeply. In fact, tonight I’m debating whether I want to watch Grey’s Anatomy or not (a guilty pleasure) because the previews are almost too much for me. Who knew after all this time and all that we have that it would still be so raw? I look at the Easter picture of these girls, my girls and am touched by the light in their eyes and their sweet faces. Amazing thing, this motherhood stuff. Crazy, amazing, overwhelming love.

Another chapter

I can't believe that Kinsley is almost two months! Where has the time gone... (I saw this sign today "Time flies like arrows, fruit flies like bananas. He, he!) I started back to work on Monday and it sucked because I wanted to be home with my girls. I know they are fine and loved and blah, blah, blah but I still wanted to be home with them. Kinsley has been having some tummy troubles and I wanted to help her. But alas, twas not to be at this time. So, instead, we make the most of our evenings! Kinsley lays on her mat and talks up a storm. She loves to watch Myla and when she is fussy, she calms right down when her big sister is talking to her. Kinsley also knows when Myla is gone and it gets quiet - she'll start right back up with the fussing. A special sister bond I guess.

Myla has been (now, this is all from her mouth, I'm just the fingers) fishing in our backyard with her daddy and playing the guitar with her dad and planting seeds inside and watching them grow and having tea parties. She's very active and has a great imagination. Sometimes its hard to keep up with her and her imaginating! She loves to line up her stuffed animals too and make it hard to get in her room - sneaky little girl...

Spring has sprung!

Yesterday was 80 degrees and Myla spent a lot of the day outside playing in the dirt - which isn't hard to do since most of our backyard is dirt. And sand. She was pretty much a mess but loved every minute. She chased the dog, threw balls, poured sand in and out of her bucket and occasionally came inside because her hands were dirty and she needed to wash them. Which I thought was funny because she went right back out and got them dirty again. Its the thought that counts I guess. (Just for the record, she did NOT play in the dirt in the pretty dress you see in the picture. That would have been a stupid-mom move!)

Kinsley is definitely growing. I was holding her yesterday and was keenly aware of how long she is. She fluctuates between newborn and 0-3 months clothes - okay, so she's still tiny compared to some. She spent some time outside yesterday too and loved to look up. At the clouds, the airplanes or just the contrast in the light, I'm not sure. She's found her voice though, and has started talking a lot when she's awake.

Myla thinks Kinsley is pretty cool and has been a big helper. Her favorite thing to do this week is hold the bottle for Kinsley or give her the pacifier. And she's always saying "hello little sister" or "that's Kinsley." Sometimes she calls her honey or sweetie or sweetheart. It makes me smile every time.
